What Are The Java Requirements for Fuze Meeting?

Is Java Required for Fuze Meeting on Mac and PC?  While it is possible to use Fuze Meeting without Java (by installing the Fuze Meeting application for PC or Mac), it is best to use Java so the appropriate version of Fuze Meeting launches automatically.

What Version of Java Runtime is required?  We recommend Java SE 6 or later.    Windows:   Internet Explorer Browser: 1.6.0.12, all other browsers: 1.6.0.0.  Mac:  Opera: java disabled,  all other browsers: 1.6.0.0

I have to admit it is getting very frustrating, this whole Java and Fuze meeting thing.  I run webinars where all participants need video and audio, so all need to run the Fuze application.  I am running too often into instances where even with Fuze Meeting preinstalled manually, and the latest Java installed, they get stuck at the "Installation Failed - Java Not Found" screen.

Can Fuze PLEASE just let people join a meeting from the application.  I appreciate the intention of Java integration is to make things easy and automatic, but for me I find the opposite is achieved.

Lionel, launching a Java-based application from a browser is a lot more cumbersome with the latest Mac OS release (OS X 10.7).  We are working on a new solution for Mac users that should be released in January.  Until then, make sure Lion users enable Java Web Start as shown here:  http://support.fuzemeeting.com/entries/20204181

Sorry, we are working quickly to eliminate the dependency on Java.

Thanks for that Greg. your tireless support and openness of communications with us is very much appreciated.

Until the dependency on Java can be eliminated, apart from some trickiness with Leopard (http://support.fuzemeeting.com/entries/20490423-why-am-i-prompted-to-install-adobe-flash-when-i-launch-fuze-as-an-application), If I just ask ALL my clients to manually install first and always tick "launch as application" before joining, should that help get them all up and running whatever their Java status?

Also in the above scenario where everyone installs Fuze first, if the "installation failed" page comes up, is it true to say one just has to wait for the system to realise Fuze is already there?

Greg, I have an idea for how you guys can get around these Java issues, without major rework:

What do you think?
